Join us for a Cézanne inspired workshop where we will work from an Autumnal still life.

Paul Cézanne was a French Post-Impressionist painter often known as the father of Modern Art. His work introduced new modes of representation and formed the bridge between late 19th-century Impressionism and early 20th-century Cubism.

What to expect:

If you're looking for a creative fun activity to enjoy on your own or with a group of friends or family try this pastel workshop for beginners and all abilities.

Pat and Caroline will give demonstrations on how to start a still life, guiding you with composition and how to measure. Soft pastels are very forgiving and flexible, they can be used on their own or on top of watercolour or print.

At the end of the workshop you will have an understanding of different techniques that can be used with soft pastels and of the various surfaces they can be used on, so that you can continue practising at home. In addition, you will have created your own unique work to take home and be proud of.

Expert tuition will be given throughout and all art materials will be supplied.

You don’t need prior experience to create something lovely to take home! This is an informal and fun workshop and we hope that, whether you are a beginner or slightly more experienced, you will learn some new ideas and techniques to add to your skills.

Suitable for adults, all abilities are welcome.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided but as this is our Christmas Workshop there will also be mulled wine and mince pies!!
Wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little messy or bring along your own apron.

Please arrive around 1.50pm to get settled, so you'll be ready to start the class at 2pm.

The class is held in a lovely spacious room which overlooks the sea, so we hope you'll be inspired and we look forward to welcoming you!
